The historical part of Holiday Inn Krakow is the Parenskich Palace, now beautifully renovated and surrounded by a modern glass & concrete construction which perfectly blends with the old 19th and 20th century Cracow.
The palace used to belong to professor doctor Stanislaw Parenski (1843-1913) who was a nobleman in the Cracovites society and a participant of the Styczniowe uprising. Dr Parenski gained his popularity for being an excellent specialist in internal medicine and a person actively involved in social work. Art exhibitions used to be organized in the Parenskich Palace and everybody who meant anything during the "Mloda Polska" art period would come here. One of those people, a highly talented painter Teodor Axentowicz made the famous canvas called "Parenskie Maids". Another patron of that art exhibition Tadeusz Boy-Zelenski took one of the maids as a wife. Jacek Malczewski, Feliks Jasinski used to come here as well, Stanislaw Wyspianski and read out the first fragments of "Wesele".
